A promising young star in the latin music scene had her life cut short in an “ambush-style” shooting while sitting in a parked car in Los Angeles over the weekend.
Maria De La Rosa, a 22-year-old known professionally as DELAROSA, was tragically killed in the Northridge neighborhood after two cold-blooded gunmen approached and opened fire on her vehicle.
Witnesses said two male suspects bolted up to the car and fired a flurry of rounds into the vehicle around 1:25 a.m. on Nov. 22. Two other men were in the car with the singer, they were left in critical condition and fighting for their lives.
De La Rosa was rushed to the Northridge Hospital Medical Center in a pedestrian car, where she was pronounced dead, according to ABC 7.
The brutal murder could be gang related, according to investigators.
The up-and-coming singer was just making her mark on the music world, having released her track “No Me Llames” this past August. Detectives are working to piece together a motive for the execution-style murder, and the suspects remain unknown to the public.
