The View hosts criticized former president Donald Trump’s campaign spokesperson for claiming that Thursday’s debate unfairly favors President Joe Biden during a CNN interview.

The View host Ana Navarro said Trump’s campaign team is making excuses on Monday’s episode.

“They’re saying the debate is rigged and the interviewers are biased,” Navarro said. “You know what it sounds to me? Sounds like the people who call folks snowflakes are snowflakes. It sounds to me like somebody’s running a little scared, chicken.”

Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared on CNN with anchor Kasie Hunt on Monday morning in what turned out to be a heated exchange.

“It takes someone five minutes to Google ‘Jake Tapper Donald Trump’ to see that Jake Tapper has consistently…” Leavitt said during the interview, before being interrupted by Hunt.

Hunt jump in to defend her fellow CNN anchor, who will be one of the moderators at the debate hosted by the network.

“I am going to stop this interview if you continue to attack my colleagues,” Hunt said.

Leavitt claimed she was stating facts. Hunt then cut her off and abruptly ended the interview.

The View host Sara Haines said Leavitt is making this claim to get ahead of any criticisms of Trump’s performance at the debate.

“Even things they end up doing well at, they say ‘I’m going to lose’ just in case,” Haines said.

In a statement to Newsweek, Leavitt said the interview shows that Trump will not get fair treatment at the debate.

“CNN cutting off my microphone for bringing up a debate moderator’s history of anti-Trump lies just proves our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly in Thursday’s debate,” Leavitt said. “Yet President Trump is still willing to go into this 3-1 fight to bring his winning message to the American people, and he will win.”

The View Host Alyssa Farah Griffin agreed with Haines.

“I think that they’re setting the stage for if the debate goes poorly to say it was rigged, these moderators were against us and frankly to try to get out of the next ABC one,” Griffin said.

She also said the interview was a missed opportunity to talk about Trump’s political platform.

“It underscored a stunning lack of message discipline,” Griffin said. “You’re a campaign spokesperson. You should be there to talk about Trump’s proactive agenda for the American people, how does he want to build the middle class or secure the border, but she can’t.”

The View Host Sunny Hostin applauded Hunt’s handling of the situation.

“She was being fair to the truth,” Hostin said. “She was trying to get the facts, [Leavitt] instead wanted to, sort of, it was ad hominem attacks. And when that happens, you cut the mic and that’s what she did.”
