It has been a whopping eight years since Bethesda Game Studios announced at E3 that “The Elder Scrolls 6” was in development. Since then, they have offered up very little detail about when the game might actually come out.

It has been 15 years since the last installment of the franchise, “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim,” hit shelves. Fans hoping that “The Elder Scrolls 6” will be out anytime soon need to temper their expectations.

Bethesda director and executive producer Todd Howard had a chance to offer up some new details on the project, but made it sound like they’re not even close to announcing a release date.

“It’s going well, we’re happy with it. It’s going to be a while yet. We’re happy with where we pushed the technology and how the game is coming together,” Howard said of “The Elder Scrolls 6” in an interview with KindaFunnyGames.

“We’re able to play it, we’re about to pass a big milestone internally,” Howard continued, “the majority of the studio is on the game, and some of our partners.”

While it’s going to disappoint gamers that there’s no end in sight for “The Elder Scrolls 6” development, Howard did reveal an interesting detail about what to expect from the game.

“As we come back to Elder Scrolls VI that we’re doing now, we’re coming back to that kind of classic style that we’ve missed, that we know really, really well,” Howard said.

Bethesda games, especially earlier ones, have a very distinct style, and it looks like “The Elder Scrolls 6” will embrace that. The style started to change with “Fallout 4,” so it’ll be interesting to see if “The Elder Scrolls 6” feels more like “Oblivion.”
