Utah Sen. Mike Lee has demanded Charlie Kirk’s accused assassin be publicly executed over the conservative activist’s death.
“Execute Tyler Robinson. In public,” the Republican blasted out in an X post.
Lee made the remarks after Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, filed court documents on Monday calling for a speedy trial as she accused the alleged killer’s defense team of using delay tactics amid the high-profile court proceedings.
It marks the second time the senator has called for Robinson to face the death penalty after the 22-year-old was charged with aggravated murder for allegedly shooting Kirk during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University last September.
“Tyler Robinson publicly executed Charlie Kirk,” Lee wrote in a similar X post on Friday.
“Tyler Robinson should be publicly executed.”
The accused assassin has yet to enter a plea. Prosecutors, however, have already indicated they will seek the death penalty if he’s convicted.
Under state law, executions in the Beehive State are not public.
The firing squad is only an option if state officials can’t get access to lethal injection drugs.
