The San Francisco 49ers are off to not such a hot start in the 2024 season. The 49ers sit at 1-2 prior to their Week 4 matchup against the New England Patriots.

There is still plenty of time to turn the season around; however, injuries to their top players don’t help. Superstar running back Christian McCaffrey has missed the entire season thus far due to an Achilles issue, and they have lost many of their key players.

This season hasn’t gone as planned, but the 49ers are still a force to be reckoned with. It’s way too early in the season to write them out, as they are in pursuit of finally getting over the Super Bowl hump.

The 49ers have gotten close to winning the big game, and that couldn’t have been any more true than last season’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 49ers dropped that game in overtime and left shorthanded again.

It’s been a common theme for the 49ers, and they are searching for answers to get over the hump.

If they listen to their login-time tight end and great, Vernon Davis, they don’t have to search too far for answers. Vernon caught up with Noah Camras of L.A. Sports Report and revealed what they need to do to win a Super Bowl.

“I just think they need to really make sure they understand how important that game is if they make it that far again. Whether it’s the coaches, the players, altogether. Because you don’t get that shot. It just doesn’t happen that way. It’s few and far between to make it to the Super Bowl.”

Although Vernon is confident his former team could get it done, sometimes it’s more complicated than having talent. Vernon also said anything can happen in big games like the Super Bowl.

“I think they need to just understand the essence of where they are at any given moment. It’s one thing to make it there — they obviously did everything they possibly could to make it to the championship game, which is the Super Bowl. But what happens, why can’t a team continue to play the same way they did the way before? What happens in that game? A lot of things can happen — whether it’s the play calling by the coaching staff, it could be that the guys just are not in sync. Anything can happen, and that’s what we saw in that game. The 49ers didn’t play the way they had been playing all season long. There was a lot that happened in that game that exposed them.”

The 49ers have all the talent in the world, but they also need health and luck on their side.
