Warning shots were fired at the Korean Demilitarized Zone over the weekend after a group of North Korean soldiers briefly crossed the de facto inter-Korean border, the South’s Yonhap news agency quoted Joint Chiefs of Staff spokesperson Col. Lee Sung-jun as saying on Tuesday.

“At around 12:30 p.m. on June 9, some North Korean troops working within the DMZ on the central front briefly crossed the Military Demarcation Line and retreated north after our military issued warning broadcasts and fired warning shots,” Lee said.
