The Washington Commanders suffered not just a blowout loss on Sunday, falling 38-14 to the Seattle Seahawks, but they also saw two cornerstone figures of their franchise leave the game in what was a bruising night of injuries.
Jayden Daniels — the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year who had returned from recent hamstring and knee issues — exited in the fourth quarter after a sack that produced a visibly abnormal bend to his left elbow.
Coaches and medical staff immobilized the arm on the sideline; outlets say Daniels will undergo imaging and is expected to be out indefinitely, reporting a dislocation.
Daniels had completed 16-of-22 for 153 yards, one interception, and added 51 rushing yards with a score before the injury.
Earlier in the second half, Washington also lost a key defender: star cornerback Marshon Lattimore left with a left-knee injury after breaking up a third-and-one pass to Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and did not return.
On Monday, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Lattimore is now believed to have torn his ACL.

Given Lattimore’s status as a former Defensive Rookie of the Year and four-time Pro Bowler, any long-term absence would be a significant downgrade to Washington’s perimeter defense.
Making matters worse, the Commanders also plan to put wide receiver Luka McCaffrey on IR after he broke his collarbone against the Seahawks, with reports indicating that he’s likely to miss the rest of the NFL season.

Beyond the scoreboard (and laundry list of injuries), the loss drops the Commanders to 3-6 on the year and extends their losing streak to four games.
They’re now three games back of the 6-2 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East, firmly on the outside of the playoff race, and facing the likelihood of playing without both their franchise quarterback and top defensive talent.
Next up for Washington comes consecutive home games against the Detroit Lions (5-3), Miami Dolphins (2-7), and Denver Broncos (7-2); a difficult stretch that could make or break their season.
