Late Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley truly lived the rockstar life both before and after meeting Jeanette Trerotola.
Ever since he became a founding member of Kiss, the musician traveled the world and lived a life many artists could only dream of.
Away from the stage, Frehley (real name Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley) also experienced a family life when he married Trerotola and welcomed a baby girl.
In September 2025, the guitarist made headlines when fans learned he wouldn’t be able to perform for the immediate future.
“Dear Rock Soldiers, Ace had a minor fall in his studio, resulting in a trip to the hospital,” a post on Frehley’s Instagram page read on September 25. “He is fine, but against his wishes, his doctor insists that he refrain from travel at this time.”
One month later, a post on Frehley’s verified Facebook page stated, “Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates.”
On October 16, Us Weekly confirmed that Frehley had died at the age of 74. “We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others,” his family said in a statement to Us. “The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
As family and friends mourn his death, keep reading to learn more about Frehley’s personal life, including his relationship with Trerotola.
When Did Ace Frehley Get Married?
In May 1978, Ace Frehley married Jeanette Trerotol in New York City. According to reports, Kiss performed “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Shout It Out Loud” at the reception. For the special event, the band didn’t show up in their signature makeup.
“Mr. and Mrs. Frehley, you wanted the best and you got ‘em!” tour manager J.R. Smalling shared during the celebrations.
Fehley’s father-in-law reportedly asked Kiss to get offstage because they were getting too much attention and taking the focus away from the family celebrations.
Did Ace Frehley and Jeanette Trerotola Have a Child?
Even as Kiss was reaching international fame — with Frehley’s persona as “The Spaceman” becoming more and more popular — the rock star and his wife were able to have one child together.
A baby girl named Monique was born in 1980.
“Me & My Lovely Daughter Monique hanging out over the years!” Frehley wrote via Facebook in October 2021 with rare family photos. “Lots of Fun!!!”
Why Did Ace Frehley and Jeanette Trerotola Separate?
In his 2012 book No Regrets, Frehley offered a glimpse into what went wrong in his marriage to Trerotola.
“A fresh start was in order and part of the process involved legally separating from my wife,” he reportedly wrote in the book when recalling his seven years of marriage. “Jeanette had decided to move on, and was involved in a relationship with a local guy.”
In another portion of his book, Frehley wrote about upsetting his wife after being in a troubled state. “Jeanette was screaming, ‘Paul! For Christ’s sake, you’re in Monique’s bedroom!’” he wrote.
How Did Ace Frehley Move On After His Split From Jeanette Trerotola?
In 2018, Frehley met a school teacher named Lara Cove. The pair would develop a romantic relationship before they called things off after nearly six years of dating.
“I broke up with my ex, Lara. Sorry. She’s gone,” Frehley reportedly said during a June 2024 concert. “I still care about her. Wonderful girl, beautiful girl. We decided to part our own ways, and she’s happy, I’m happy. It was just time. Things go south, right? Three out of four marriages end after five years in this country, statistically. I don’t wanna be a bearer of bad news, but that’s reality.”
Cove also addressed the split on her My Art Of Glass Facebook page.
“After much thought and heartfelt conversations, Ace and I have decided to part ways,” she wrote. “This decision is a step we are taking as we both embark on new paths in our lives. I refuse to say one bad word about him and will not be discussing our breakup further. This statement is the only comment I will make on the matter, out of respect for him and my own integrity.”
