The X-Men are back, and they’re stronger than ever. The only problem is that they’re separated by time and space, with several members, like Professor X (Ross Marquand) and Magneto (Matthew Waterson), stuck in the ancient past, and others, like Cyclops (Ray Chase), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), Storm (Alison Sealy-Smith), Morph (JP Karliak) and Wolverine (Cal Dodd), fighting for their lives in the future. That leaves Jubilee (Holly Chou) and Sunspot (Gui Agustini) in the present, where they are forced to team up with the time-traveller Cable to fight the looming threat of Apocalypse (Marquand) and his Four Horsemen of Death.

X-Men ‘97 isn’t just one of the best Disney+ shows – it’s also one of the best streaming shows on right now. Exciting, dramatic and surprisingly deep, the reboot series distills everything that made the original Marvel comic books it’s based on so great. Special props should be given to the animation, which pays tribute to its predecessor, X-Men: The Animated Series, while also looking modern, colorful and dynamic. Yes, it’s animated, but this show isn’t just for kids.
