Red carpets have seen it all — fashion wins, awkward moments, surprise baby bumps. But Cobra Kai stars Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser just gave fans a moment to remember.
The costars not only hard-launched their relationship at the show’s series finale event on Wednesday, February 12, but they also sparked engagement rumors with one simple move: flashing matching rings on their left hands.
Naturally, the internet had questions. Are they dating? Are they engaged? Netflix seemed to confirm the latter, taking to social media to post, “COBRA CRYING BECAUSE TANNER BUCHANAN & MARY MOUSER ARE ENGAGED.” And if that wasn’t enough, the couple made it official in a joint Instagram post.
“We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged. This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another. We’re so grateful for the love and support, and though we’re partial to having our private moments, we’re excited to share this check-in to our world 🖤,” they wrote on Thursday, February 13.
Fans, of course, had plenty to say.
“They look so happy together! Congratulations,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“Wholesome!🥲❤️” another added.
“Hard launch … straight to engagement haha,” chimed in a third.
“So happy for Tanner and Mary! Now, when’s the wedding and can I be a bridesmaid? Asking for a friend,” someone else joked.
“Cobra Kai fans weren’t ready for this twist!” said another.
“Wait, this is huge. I had no knowledge of their relationship lol,” a surprised fan commented.
While the couple has kept their personal lives under wraps for years, fans have long speculated about their off-screen connection. They were spotted together at a Taylor Swift concert in 2023, but neither had publicly confirmed their relationship until now.
Chatting with People at the event, Buchanan shared that Mouser is “a hundred percent” someone he can count on among the Cobra Kai cast.
“But to be honest, literally everybody,” he added. “There’s not one person that we don’t hang out with and have fun with, and we truly keep saying that we’re going to be around in each other’s lives forever. I don’t know how to explain it.”
The He’s All That actor went on to describe their cast bond as a “really crazy, weird, cool family connection” that’s grown over the years. “None of us are ever not going to be in each other’s lives,” he said.
Cobra Kai first premiered on YouTube in 2018 before making the jump to Netflix in 2020, where it built a dedicated fanbase. In 2023, creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg confirmed that season 6 would be the show’s final chapter.
