Residents on Australia’s east coast are bracing for another weekend of wild weather.

South-east Queensland is expecting a soaking, while hazardous surf conditions continue to lash the NSW coastline.

Coolangatta and the Gold Coast already saw between 30 millimetres to 50m millimetres of rain overnight, with the wet weather forecast to continue today.

Another 15 millimetres to 25 millimetres is expected to fall across the state from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and inland to Darling Downs.

The wet weather should clear up by Sunday afternoon.

“Thankfully, [the rain] is only going to be Saturday,” Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Dean Narramore said.

“We’ll see a few coastal showers on Sunday, but by Sunday afternoon, much of the east coast should see back to fine and sunny conditions.”

In NSW, hazardous surf conditions will continue over the weekend, with massive swells from the Macquarie Coast to the South Coast and Eden.

Swells are expected to reach three metres high.
