The Indiana Fever opened the WNBA regular season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon in a highly anticipated matchup against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
The game marked Caitlin Clark’s first regular-season appearance since last year, when she was limited to just 13 games because of a season-ending groin injury suffered before the All-Star break.
Ultimately, Dallas outlasted Indiana 107-104, but Clark still finished with 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds while making WNBA history by recording her 1,000th career point.
“1K for CC,” Fever posted. “congrats to Caitlin Clark on 1,000 career points.”

According to Polymarket Hoops, Clark became the sixth-fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 career points and the fastest point guard ever to accomplish the feat.
She also became just the eighth player in league history to hit the milestone within 54 career games.
Clark was not the only star to shine for Indiana, as Kelsey Mitchell scored a game-high 30 points while Aliyah Boston added 23 points of her own.
Dallas also delivered an impressive team performance. Bueckers recorded 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, former Fever guard Odyssey Sims added 20 points, and Arike Ogunbowale led the Wings with 22 points.
The Fever will be back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Los Angeles for a matchup against the Sparks.
