A bride-to-be has melted hearts online after revealing the adorable reason why she chose to take her dad wedding dress shopping.
Ahead of her wedding in June 2026, bride-to-be Polina from Los Angeles, California, decided to take not only her mom wedding dress shopping, but her dad David too. It may not be the conventional choice, as many women go with their mom, sisters, or female friends, but Polina told Newsweek that this marked such an “intimate and meaningful family moment.”
Polina, 29, knew she wanted her dad to be there as she tried on wedding dresses for the first time because of his honesty and pride. She wanted a genuine response about each gown she tried on, and that is exactly what David gave her.
“I decided to take my dad wedding dress shopping because, first of all, he is a very honest man,” Polina said. “Just by looking at his expression, you can immediately tell if he likes something or not. He wears his heart on his sleeve with me.
“It was also a very special moment—something you can never really repeat—and doing it with family made it extra meaningful. I loved seeing his reaction because it was supportive and honest, and I felt like a kid again showing him princess outfits back in the day,” she continued.
When Polina stepped out in the first wedding dress option, her dad’s face was absolutely glowing. He looked so delighted and instantly started snapping pictures. Polina could see just how happy he was for her, and she knew she made the right decision to invite him.
Although she is yet to find the perfect dress, Polina is certain to enlist her dad’s help as the search continues.
“That experience definitely solidified our bond. It feels like one of those cartoons where every memory is like a little ball that you keep, and this moment became a new memory that we’ll both look back on and smile about for years to come,” Polina said.
She shared a video on TikTok (@pwops.sh) of the precious moment she showed her dad the first dress and he was instantly overjoyed. Internet users can’t get enough of his reaction, and the clip has gone viral with over 599,500 views and almost 100,000 likes at the time of writing.
Polina and David have been blown away by the online response to the TikTok clip, but they are so glad that other families could share in this wonderful moment. Polina said she also hopes this might inspire other brides to share these special moments with their dads too, as their “love is unconditional.”
Polina added: “You can always have fun celebrations and parties with friends, but creating memories with family has a unique meaning. I’m very thankful that I was able to share this moment with my dad.”
In just a matter of days, the TikTok post has generated over 670 comments as social-media users hailed David’s heartwarming reaction to his daughter.
