Shove over, Starbucks’ Bear Cup — there’s a new coffee trinket in town.
Starting today — the first day of fall — New England stalwarts Dunkin’ Donuts and L.L.Bean release their first-ever collab with a limited-edition piece of autumn merch — including a tiny sweater for your coffee that has java junkies lining up at their local chains.
“When you wake up at 5 a.m. to secure the Dunkin’ x L.L.Bean coffee sweater collab,” said one clearly caffeinated TikTok poster.
Another TikTok poster said he “went to three Dunkins’ for this L.L.Bean sweater that my coffee is wearing.”
Nick Wilkoff, chief marketing officer at L.L.Bean, shared that the two companies teamed up on the cozy accessory to cement their status as “iconic brands that have called New England home for decades.”
“We wanted to create something that feels familiar and fun, bringing a touch of Dunkin’ to two L.L.Bean favorites that have been a part of people’s fall traditions for generations,” Wilkoff said in a statement.
The mini coffee sleeve comes in L.L.Bean’s signature fisherman sweater pattern, but knit in Dunkin’s day-glo pink and orange instead of the Maine retailer’s traditional navy-and-white combo.
It’s free for the coffee chain’s customers — at least it was, until sweaters seemingly ran out this morning.
When The Post visited our local Dunkin’ outpost in midtown Manhattan, the on-duty barista warily told us he’d run out of the primo promo item by 6:30 in the morning, an experience shared by many on social media.
But those hoping for a human-size version of the Dunkin’ coffee cozy are in luck:
Superfans can get an L.L.Bean x Dunkin’ sweater of their very own for $79.95 starting on National Coffee Day, September 29.
Also available: A pink-and-orange version of L.L.Bean’s Boat & Tote bag ($59.95) and a coffee-sized tote ($24.95) that’s exclusively available on the Dunkin’ website.
And fall fans in Boston have a wicked advantage.
They’ll get first dibs on the merch by visiting the L.L.Bean Seaport location this Sunday, September 27. Along with free Munchkins and coffee, die-hard Dunkin’ supporters will get to score the rest of the autumn merch two days early.
Those who would rather just caffeine-max can skip the sweater frenzy and head to Dunkin’ on September 29, where they can pick up a complimentary medium regular hot or iced coffee with any purchase.
