Matt Ryan was called “Matty Ice” on the football field, and the former NFL MVP quarterback made sure to lock in his head coach as calmly and confidently as he played on the field as the Atlanta Falcons’ new president of football.
After Ryan was named executive for the team he led to the Super Bowl, he didn’t waste any time diving in deep on who should be the next head coach for the Atlanta Falcons following the dismissal of Raheem Morris.
From the get-go, there were two names on top of Ryan’s and the Falcons’ list: John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski.
Both were talented, veteran coaches who have done strong work in the league. After Harbaugh took his initial interview in New York with the Giants and selected them without meeting any other suitors, Ryan switched his full attention to getting Stefanski to Atlanta and not letting him leave.
Stefanski had his second interview with Atlanta earlier on Saturday, and he enters Sunday as the new Falcons head coach with a five-year deal.

He won 11 games in his first season leading the team, and the Falcons will hope that Stefanski can have a similar effect in his inaugural season down south.
One thing Stefanski will have to deal with is Atlanta not having a first-round pick and using latter selections or free agency to bolser the squad, having traded it to the aforementioned Rams at last season’s draft.
