Academy Award-winning director Adam McKay unleashed a rant against voters blindly standing behind the Democratic Party.
The lefty filmmaker — who directed such comedic classics as “Anchorman,” “Talladega Nights” and “Step Brothers” — slammed “white liberals” during a recent interview on the “Urgent Futures” podcast.
“It is incredible to watch people this far down the road still say you gotta stand behind the Democrat Party. The same party that wouldn’t convict Trump of a crime after he told a crowd, ‘Go to the Capitol,’” McKay said. “The same party where the previous presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, literally funded Trump’s campaign.”
The director, who won an Oscar for his screenplay for the 2015 film “The Big Short,” also accused Democrats of “manipulative marketing.”
“We are being hit with the high-grade marketing, and no group is worse than white liberals. I mean, they are the worst,” he said. “I’ve tried to talk to them about climate, they are so smug and captured. And it boils down to privilege. I mean, when you talk to white moneyed liberals, they’re getting a lot from this broken system.”
McKay left the Democratic Party after President Trump won the 2024 election, choosing a more progressive party instead.
“It is time to abandon the Dem Party. I’m registering Green Party or Working Families. But am open to ideas,” he wrote in a since-deleted X post.
He has criticized former President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party’s alleged cover-up of his cognitive condition.
“Who would have guessed lying about Biden’s cognitive health for 2 yrs, refusing to do an open convention for a new nominee, never mentioning public healthcare & embracing fracking, the Cheneys & a yr long slaughter of children in Gaza wouldn’t be a winning strategy?” he wrote on X.
McKay previously supported Bernie Sanders for president in 2016 and 2020. He joined the Democratic Socialists of America in 2019.
He recently produced the documentary “You Need This,” which explains America’s history of capitalism.
It’s “the worst thing to ever happen to our planet,” according to the film.
