A fast-moving wildfire erupted in Southern California on Sunday afternoon, prompting evacuation orders as firefighters scrambled to contain the growing blaze.
The Bike Fire broke out near Golden Valley in Santa Clarita and had scorched approximately 200 acres by 2:40 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Mandatory evacuation orders have been expanded, with a new area added at 2:48 p.m. Residents in the affected zones were urged to leave immediately because of the threat to life.
Aircraft were being mobilized to help crews battle the flames, authorities said.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The evacuation orders cover SCL-SULTUS, SCL-NADEU-A, SCL-SANDSOUTH-B and SCL-MACMILLAN. Residents in these areas have been told to leave immediately.
Evacuation warnings are in effect for SCL-NADEU-B, SCL-CRYSTALSPRINGS, SCL-WOODLAND, SCL-SANDSOUTH-A, SCL-FAIROAKSRANCH and LAC-E119-A.

The blaze comes as Southern California grapples with a turbulent stretch of weather, with rain, gusty winds and coastal flooding affecting the region as moisture associated with former Tropical Cyclone Rachel moves through.
The National Weather Service warned of continued showers and potentially powerful wind gusts in mountain areas and the Antelope Valley, while coastal flooding concerns are expected to persist into Tuesday.
