Five people have been killed after a small plane crashed in Texas on Thursday evening.

Emergency responders were dispatched to reports of a downed aircraft near the city of Wimberley at around 11.05 p.m. on Thursday night, Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said.

The Cessna 421C aircraft had five individuals on board at the time of the crash, and all were killed in the incident, according to authorities. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.

“Preliminary information indicates the aircraft was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of impact. Based on current findings, there is no indication of a mid-air collision. A second aircraft traveling in the vicinity landed safely in New Braunfels,” Becerra said on Facebook.

Becerra added that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) had been informed of the crash and are leading the investigation.
