Jalen Brunson has the New York Knicks three wins away from securing the franchise’s first NBA title since 1973.
Brunson scored a game-high 30 points in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, dropping 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Knicks notched a 105-95 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
The Knicks extended their historic postseason win streak to 12 games. With Brunson at the helm, the New York squad notched back-to-back series sweeps over the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers to punch the Knicks’ first ticket to the NBA Finals since 1999.
Listed at just 6-foot-2, Brunson still finds a way to be one of the best players on the court at all times.
Retired NBA veteran Isaiah Thomas, 5-foot-9, sees himself in the way that Brunson plays.
“Brunson is that dude!!!! Reminds me of myself when he’s going to work… Heavy film on him for my sons!!! HOOP GAME!!! Every movement he makes MATTERS every time down,” Thomas wrote on social media after Game 1.

At his peak, Thomas was one of the best players in the league. The 12-year NBA veteran notched back-to-back All-Star appearances with the Boston Celtics from 2015-17. He averaged 28.9 points per game in 2016-17, finishing fifth in MVP voting that year.
