The Golden State Warriors are still working to figure out the Jonathan Kuminga situation.
While the team has tried to keep Kuminga around, he has been unwilling to accept their offers. As a restricted free agent, he has been able to hold the Warriors hostage. Golden State has been unable to figure out the situation itself, while also being unable to sign other free agents until they do.
Plenty of teams have come up as potential landing spots for Kuminga. Among the teams with noted interest have been the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, and Chicago Bulls.
To this point, no movement has been made on any front. Kuminga could simply accept his qualifying offer and enter unrestricted free agency next offseason.

With that being said, the Warriors have received a crushing update about where Kuminga stands with his interest level in staying with the team.
According to a report from Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Kuminga wants nothing to do with Golden State. He wants out and he wants to join a team that views him as a key part of the future, not just a role player.
“It has become very clear this offseason that Kuminga wants no part of the Warriors. Between head coach Steve Kerr benching him throughout the years and his role constantly changing, Kuminga feels as if he hasn’t been valued,” Siegel wrote. “That is why he entered this summer wanting a new home, one where he could be a starter and maximize his potential.”
Obviously, that hints at Kuminga not accepting anything more than a qualifying offer with the Warriors. He would likely prefer to land with another team via a sign-and-trade.
Last season with Golden State, Kuminga played in 47 games and made 10 starts. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.8 steals per game, while shooting 45.4 percent overall and 30.5 percent from three-point range.

Back in the 2023-24 NBA season, the 22-year-old forward had a bigger year. He appeared in 74 games and made 46 starts, producing 16.1 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He also shot 52.9 percent from the floor and connected on 32.1 percent of his three-point attempts.
It will be interesting to see how the situation turns out. Kuminga doesn’t seem likely to be a fit for the Warriors past the 2025-26 season at the most.
