South Florida finished 6-2 in the American Conference, tied for fourth place. The Bulls come into the game with defensive line coach Kevin Patrick serving as interim head coach after Alex Golesh left to take the Auburn job. For Old Dominion, Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year Colton Joseph entered the transfer portal, leaving the offense in the hands of Quinn Henicle, who was 6-of-15 for 57 yards in limited action. Trequan Jones ran for 736 yards and five touchdowns while three receivers shared the wealth. Na’eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding had 46 catches for 607 yards and six scores, Ja’Cory Thomas snagged 38 passes for 674 yards and five TDs, and Tre Brown came in with 37 receptions, 751 yards, and four touchdowns. Jerome Carter led the defense with 72 tackles and four interceptions.
Wednesday’s Cure Bowl marks the first time the Monarchs and Bulls have met. Old Dominion comes in with five straight wins, while South Florida won its final two games.
