Megan Moroney apologized to fans after abruptly ending a concert in Denver due to illness.
The country singer, 28, left the stage at the Ball Arena after just three songs on Tuesday, July 28.
In a statement posted to her Instagram Stories, Moroney said she had taken ill and was not able to continue performing. She promised to make it up to fans in attendance with a rescheduled concert on August 27.
“That was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make & I’m so sorry to cancel the show tonight,” she wrote.
Moroney continued, “I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and by song 3 I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight. I’m typing this as I’m quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room & it hurts me so much to disappoint you all.”
“I will be back August 27, and all tickets purchased for tonight’s show will be honored for the new date. If you can’t make the rescheduled date refunds are available at the point of purchase,” the statement continued.
She concluded, “I’ve never had to do this & I’m truly so sorry. i love u guys – Megan.”
Earlier on Tuesday, the Ball Arena announced via social media that Moroney was “unable to continue her performance this evening due to illness, and we must end the show at this time.” The concert ended just after 9 p.m. Eastern.
Moroney is currently performing on her Cloud 9 Tour, which kicked off in Columbus, Ohio, on May 29. She is set to perform in the U.S. through the end of August before taking the tour to Europe, where it will wrap on October 1 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The singer’s tour is in support of her third studio album, Cloud 9, which became her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart back in February.
“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney said in a statement announcing the record. “Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry, and it was fun to play around sonically while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
