A hot air balloon made an emergency landing in the backyard of a California home on Saturday.
Menifee resident Maryam Dandan captured the bright blue balloon, decorated with gold stars and a crescent moon, as it drifted toward the ground.
She said it was her husband who first noticed the giant blue balloon.
“I was in this room, and my husband came in, and he looked out this window, and he said, ‘Oh, my gosh. Look at the hot air balloon,’” Dandan told ABC 7.
She said that it appeared as if the balloon was making an emergency landing because of a tear.
“It looked like it was an emergency landing. And when we got closer, the hot air balloon looked like it might have had some kind of tear,” she added.
The details of the balloon’s operator are unknown at the moment. It is also not clear how many people were in its basket when it made the emergency landing.
This isn’t the first such landing in California. In April this year, a similar-looking balloon had landed in a backyard in Temecula.
A total of 13 people were on board, including a couple, Brianna Avalos and her husband, who were celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary.
Avalos had said at the time that the pilot informed passengers that he needed to make an emergency landing because of low fuel and a shift in winds.
After disembarking the passengers in the backyard of the Temecula home, the pilot took off again with the balloon and brought it down nearby on a public street, where it was officially dismantled, PBS reported.
