The Alabama Crimson Tide looked dead in the water during their first game of the season on Saturday against the Florida State Seminoles. Kalen DeBoer and company started off the 2025 season with a 31-17 loss on the road.
All offseason long, DeBoer has been talked about as a head coach who could potentially be on the hot seat. With the loss to begin the year, those talks have grown even louder.
Gone are the days of Nick Saban dominating the world of college football. He has transitioned into a comfortable role on “College GameDay” and has been enjoying his work there.
Alabama Linked to Shocking Potential Kalen DeBoer Replacements
That being said, there are now calls rising for the Crimson Tide to pursue bringing Saban back to Tuscaloosa.
During an appearance on “Get Up,” as shared by Awful Announcing, Paul Finebaum spoke out and made it clear that Alabama should do whatever it takes to get Saban back on its sideline to replace DeBoer.
“That would be fact. Bring him back,” Finebaum said. “Get him off the GameDay set, bring him back today. Don’t waste a moment.”

Needless to say, a move from the Crimson Tide to bring back Saban would shake the landscape of college football. Would his return instantly result in wins? That would be a question all fans would be watching closely to find out the answer.
While the rumors and calls for Saban to return to Alabama are growing louder, the likelihood is that he isn’t walking through the door anytime soon. No one can ever say never to the possibility, but it should not be expected by any stretch.
Throughout his tenure as the head coach of the Crimson Tide, Saban was incredible. He compiled a career record of 201-29 and has led the program to six national championship wins.

DeBoer, on the other hand, has gone 9-5 in his first full season and first game of his second season as the lead man at Alabama.
Next week, the Crimson Tide will face off against Troy. That should be a dominant win. If Alabama happens to fall victim to a huge upset, DeBoer could find the end of his tenure coming rather rapidly.
Should he be able to turn things around and start winning after the Week 1 loss, all of these calls for DeBoer’s job will likely cool down dramatically.
