These highway behemoths might rule the road in size, but they leave a fatal trail of destruction.

Hines Law reveals the top 10 vehicles that pose the greatest danger to other drivers and pedestrians, based on annual driver fatality rates for all vehicles involved.

The Ram 3500 is the most dangerous pickup for other drivers on the road, but is one of the safest for those driving it, according to a September 2026 report of danger gaps, comparing other driver deaths vs. own driver deaths.

Research examined nearly 200 vehicle models to find which ones put other drivers at the most risk while keeping their own drivers safest. It looked at two fatality rates: how many drivers of a given vehicle die in a crash, and separately, how many drivers of other cars die when they crash into that vehicle.

Both rates are counted per million vehicle-years on the road, so common models and rare ones can be compared equally. The two death rates were combined to reveal which cars pose extra danger to other drivers.

A recent study found that an adult pedestrian hit by an SUV is 44% more likely to die than one hit by a smaller car. For children, that number jumps to 82%.

SUV sizes are being called into question. In the UK, some experts are already calling on the government to restrict the size of SUVs sold to the public. A Hines Law expert said this is unlikely to happen in the US because big trucks are a part of the “culture” here.

Here are the top 10 vehicles that other drivers should be on the lookout for on the road:
