NSW Labor MP for Auburn Lynda Voltz expects about a dozen state Labor politicians to march in the protest over the Harbour Bridge this afternoon.
Firing a shot across the bow at some in her own government, Voltz said any decision on a march should be left to the courts, and it should not be for the government to decide who gets to protest.

“Quite frankly, it should have been left to the courts. We have laws and we have a legal process and that’s where it rests,” she said, shortly before heading to the march.
“If government is making decisions who protests, certain people get to protest. That’s not how a democracy works.
“They closed the bridge for a movie I can’t even remember, yet they are concerned when people ask to protest.” (The movie was The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling).
Voltz said she believed about a dozen Labor MPs were likely to turn up to march, which highlighted how deeply the felt about their communities and the right to protest.
“The right to protest is a fundamental Labor belief,” she said.
