On day one of his trial, the 30-year-old entertainer, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, watched on as a District Court jury were faced with confronting details of his alleged assault of a 20-year-old fan after a gig at Hillarys nightclub Bar1 in September 2024.

Barrientos denies the allegations and will face a 10-day trial, which will be made up largely of the in-person testimony of a woman who claims “a fun night” turned into her worst nightmare when consensual sex turned violent.

State prosecutors told the jury on Monday the woman was “full of excitement and anticipation” to see Barrientos perform on stage, having attended the event with her cousin. She was invited into the VIP area after the show, where she claims he approached her and started talking to her.

“You’re coming home with me tonight,” the woman alleged Barrientos said as he put his hand down the back of her pants and then grabbed one of her breasts. Prosecutors said she told him, “I’m not like that” to which he allegedly responded, “it really shows your age”.

When Barrientos took her hand and left the venue with her, the woman claimed she thought she was going to an after-party.

Instead, she ended up in a hotel room alone with Barrientos, where the pair engaged in consensual sex before he allegedly started biting her neck.

“She said, ‘ow’ and asked him to be gentle,” the prosecutor told the jury on Monday.

“However, he continued to bite her hard … he told her to stop talking … she told him to stop. He bit her harder.”

The jury was shown an image of bruising and bite marks allegedly on the woman’s face and neck that the state says were inflicted by Barrientos.

Prosecutors also claimed Barrientos bit her on both breasts, leaving marks, before he allegedly put both hands around her neck, “constricting her breathing for a few seconds”.

The woman then alleges he slapped her hard multiple times to the face and told her to say, “I’m Filly’s dirty whore”, and “fat pig”.

Prosecutors told the court on Monday that the woman started to cry, “from the pain and fear of the situation she has found herself in”.

She then alleged that Barrientos went on to penetrate her anally without her consent.

During her evidence, the woman said Barrientos had been an idol of hers, with the jury shown a Snapchat video of her in the bathroom at his concert saying, “we’re going to get married, have a baby, and be really happy and be rich and famous” before explaining that she was wearing her “lucky” outfit of a white T-shirt and jeans.

She went on to explain how she and her cousin were let into the VIP area of the venue just after 2.30am where Barrientos gave her and other women tequila shots.

She then said she and Barrientos recorded a Snapchat video together before he told her she was beautiful.

Later in the night at his hotel, she claimed she was forced to hand over her mobile phone to Barrientos’ security guard.

“[They said it was] for privacy reasons to make sure I wasn’t going to try and set him up and I was very happy to do so, and they required it unlocked as well, which I did and they both went through my phone,” the woman said.

She then told the jury she asked for her phone back multiple times but that the security guard turned it off and took it with him out of the bedroom before she and Barrientos began having sex.

“There was no talking, and he was moving me around quite roughly,” she testified.

“It was getting more aggressive. He was kind of throwing me around. He didn’t talk, he was just putting me in whatever position he wanted me in. He wasn’t speaking much to me. He was just being more aggressive and this is the time when he starts hurting me. He starts biting on me. His bites were not nice.”

The woman claimed she “squirmed” to try and stop Barrientos from hurting her and repeatedly told him he was hurting her.

“I kept saying, ‘You’re hurting me’,” she told the court.

“When he was biting me I was trying to tap him, saying I was tapping out. Each time I said something he would hurt me more.

“Then he told me to stop saying no.”

Barrientos has pleaded not guilty to 10 charges including sexual penetration without consent, assault occasioning bodily harm and impeding another person’s breathing.

The trial continues.
