Hayes said the forecast was for conditions to clear at the weekend, but light showers might persist for some areas.
Turning to temperature, Hayes said the cooler mornings would ease while the system was in the area, with daily maximums hovering between the high teens and low 20s into Wednesday.
By Thursday, the mercury could creep into the 20-degree to 22-degree range.
In Brisbane, Wednesday’s temperature forecast was a low of 12 degrees and a high of 20 degrees, while Thursday should have a low of 14 degrees and a high of 21 degrees. Heading into the weekend, the forecast maximums would jump to 23 on Friday, 24 on Saturday and 25 degrees on Sunday.
