Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark turned quite a few heads last summer as she showed off a noticeably more muscular physique during the offseason.
Clark admitted she hit the weight room to add more muscle to help her body better absorb the beating she was expecting after the damage she took from opposing defenders during her rookie season.
It seems Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers is following her lead.
Though she wasn’t wailed on as hard as Clark was during her rookie season, Bueckers did take a similar beating as she got acclimated to the WNBA, which is why she also bulked up this offseason to help her durability in 2026.
“For me, getting in the weight room this offseason and having a healthy offseason where I could grind and get better,” Bueckers told Unrivaled reporters back in January. “… I think it definitely helps with this Unrivaled league and just how physical it is.”
It’s not known how much muscle Bueckers has put on this offseason, but her improved physique has turned quite a few heads. In fact, Wings head coach Joe Fernandez seemingly put the rest of the WNBA on notice regarding how much more dangerous a more bulked-up Bueckers will be.
“I think it’s going to be great for her going down the stretch in the fourth quarter,” Fernandez told reporters. “I think it’s going to be really good for her playing through contact, and when she gets to the rim, finishing through contact as well. There’s a reason why she looks that way. She’s a pro — the way that she invests, the way she connects everybody, the offseason that she’s had — she’s one of the best players in the world.”
As a rookie, Bueckers averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game across 36 appearances en route to a Rookie of the Year win.
