WWE Superstar Kevin Owens is currently dealing with a lot of questions about his neck injury. He remains positive that a clear plan for his recovery will be found in the near future.
This serious health issue has already caused a major change to WWE’s biggest show of the year. Owens was sadly unable to wrestle in his scheduled match against Randy Orton at WWE WrestleMania 41 last April.
Doctors made the call that he was not fit to take part in the match. This decision came after they found out he would need an operation on his neck.
This past Sunday, May 18, 2025, Owens gave an update to WWE fans using X. The much-loved former WWE World Champion explained he got the bad neck injury earlier in 2025 and has been away from the ring since then.
He also shared that the needed surgery has not happened yet. Owens told his followers directly about the current situation with his health.
He stated, “We don’t have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet. Despite reports to the contrary, we’re still trying to figure out the best way to go about it all and exactly what needs to be done. So we’re kind of figuring that out still. So, there’s a lot of uncertainty, but hopefully, in the next few weeks, we get clarity, we do the surgery, and then we go from there.”
Even with this difficult news about his injury, Owens also took time in his video message to mark a special day in his career. He celebrated the ten-year mark since his unforgettable first appearance on WWE Monday Night Raw.

That night, a decade ago, he famously answered John Cena’s open challenge for the United States Championship. Owens said that this one match completely changed the direction of his wrestling career for the better.
He also showed he was very thankful for all the WWE fans who have followed him. He thanked everyone who has stayed with him and supported him through all the years of his WWE journey.
Losing a talent like Owens to injury is a significant blow for WWE. He has proven to be an incredibly valuable and flexible member of their team for a long time now.
