11-year-old in critical condition after shooting inside Fairway Drive apartment

An 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being shot in the face and neck inside a Sydney apartment on Monday afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to a large apartment complex on Fairway Drive, Norwest about 5pm following reports the child had been shot. The child is in a critical condition, after suffering gunshot wounds believed to be to the head.

There were five other people in the apartment when the shooting occurred, none of whom were injured. Police believe the boy was shot in the home, but are unsure what led to the shooting and who pulled the trigger.

Several police vehicles are also on scene. Officers have established a crime scene and have started investigating.
