Wrapping up a week of training camp, the Philadelphia Eagles recently made some small changes.
On Tuesday, the team announced the signing of a familiar face, as they added Ife Adeyi. The young rookie wide receiver was a participant in some of the Eagles’ spring sessions this offseason.
Back in May, Adeyi was around for the team’s rookie minicamp. He was trying out for the squad and earned himself a spot on the roster. However, it was very short-lived. The Eagles would waive Adeyi just a few days after signing him. They needed to make room to claim Keilan Robinson.
Although Adeyi was cut loose from the roster, he stuck around for a bit. When the Eagles held a single mandatory minicamp session, Adeyi was around for another tryout. At the time, he didn’t have a spot on the roster, but the Eagles clearly kept him in mind.
Adeyi attempted find another franchise as he waited for the Eagles to bring him back. According to a report, he recently had workouts with the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants. Neither team made an offer to keep him around.
As the Eagles lost Danny Gray to an injury during the first week of training camp, they decided to waive him with an injury designation. Once that opened up a roster spot, it gave Adeyi an opportunity to land on the roster. Perhaps, he’ll get an opportunity to suit up for the Eagles during the preseason.
Adeyi entered the NFL after a two-year run at Sam Houston. During his junior season, he appeared in just three games, where he caught seven passes for 74 yards. Last year, Adeyi played in 13 games for Sam Houston, catching 30 passes for 271 yards and a touchdown. He also fielded 10 punts for 63 yards.

Standing out in a stacked wide receiver group will be difficult for any player on the Eagles, but especially for an undrafted rookie. Either way, the Sam Houston prospect is gaining a decent opportunity to showcase his value as a potential special-teams addition as the Eagles work their way through the end of July.
Next week, the Eagles kick off the preseason with an August 7 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Perhaps, Adeyi will get his first taste of the pros.
