Following their Super Bowl victory last season, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to retain most of their roster. However, just ahead of their quest for a second straight title, Howie Roseman has made an addition to the roster.

Eagles work out trade with Texans for wide receiver John Metchie
On Sunday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported a trade between the Eagles and Texans. The two sides have worked out an agreement that will send wide receiver John Metchie to the defending champs.
In return for the young wideout, the Eagles and Texans will have a pick swap and Philadelphia is sending Harrison Bryant to Houston.

Matchie, 25, was a second-round pick by the Texans back in 2022. He was unable to carve out a spot for himself in Houston’s offense, and now is on the move ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Across two seasons with the Texans, Metchie appeared in 29 games. In that time, he racked up 412 yards and found the end zone one time.

Now with the Eagles, Metchie joined a loaded wide receiver room headline by the duo of AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. Moving forward, he’ll likely battle it out with Jahan Dotson for the third spot on the depth chart.
