Eric Roberts shut down any rumblings of a family feud with his sister Julia Roberts.

“You don’t know that,” Eric, 69, said on the Tuesday, April 14, episode of the “It Happened in Hollywood” podcast when asked about a potential falling out. “It’s not true, [and] it never was true, really. We’re fine. We have disagreements as people do, but we like and respect each other very much.”

Eric further gushed that Julia, 58, is a “wonderful actress” and a “wonderful human.”

“I think she’s even a wonderful mother, that’s the hardest job there is,” Eric said, referring to Julia’s three children with husband Danny Moder. “She’s a cool chick and I like her. We don’t talk about each other in the press much because it’s always a contest brought on by the press. We’re not in a contest. We’ll never be up for the same parts.”

Eric is Julia’s older brother, and even they aren’t immune to sibling squabbles. (Eric and Julia have another sister, Lisa Roberts Gillan, who is also an actress. Their half-sister, Nancy Motes, died in 2014.)

“The only issues that we have are, like, day-to-day disagreements on whatever, but it’s not a thing,” Eric stressed on Tuesday. “I like my sister very much. I’m impressed by her wonderful career, and she’s got three kids. She’s a mom, dude.”

While Julia has seldom discussed her sibling relationship, Eric previously raised eyebrows in 2018 when he claimed that his career helped both Julia and his daughter, Emma Roberts, find success in Hollywood. (Eric shares Emma, 35, with ex Kelly Cunningham.)

“If it wasn’t for me, there would be no Julia Roberts and no Emma Roberts as celebrities, as actresses, and I’m very proud of that,” Eric told Vanity Fair in a 2018 profile. “When Julia first came to New York, I went into William Morris [talent agency] and I said, ‘Which one of you is going to sign my sister Julia?’ And I am so proud that everybody knows I was first because I was first by a long shot. I was first to get Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations, so I’m proud of that.”

Eric, who noted that he was “crazy about” his sisters, has since walked back his comments.

“I think years and years ago, I was doing a press tour for some movie. … It was just when Pretty Woman [had been] released, and so they’re asking a bunch of questions about Julia,” he recalled on the “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast in 2022. “I said, ‘Hey, excuse me. Can we talk about me?’ Suddenly … I keep hearing about [these issues] I have with my sister that I don’t [actually] have with my sister.”

Not only is there no beef, but Eric also loves seeing Julia bond with Emma.

“They look so much alike that I love the pictures of them when they’re side-by-side,” Eric exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “They’re both such Robertses. You know? It’s really cool to look at them. I love seeing them together.”
