Police are searching for a maniac in a skull mask after he stabbed a man during a heated argument in a trendy Manhattan neighborhood early Saturday.
The suspect — who appeared to be clad in a Halloween costume — and a 32-year-old man got into a verbal spat around 2:45 a.m. in front of a building on St. Marks Place between Second and Third Avenue in the East Village, according to the NYPD.
The unidentified man then whipped out a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen before fleeing eastbound on St. Marks Place, cops said.
Emergency responders transported the 32-year-old man to a local hospital in stable condition, police added.
Photos and video released by police captured the alleged knife-wielding suspect with a skull mask pushed to the side of his face, and wearing boots, dark pants and a fur-trimmed vest.
The area where the knifing unfolded is just blocks away from the Astor Place subway station and near several bustling bars.
Anyone with information on the stabbing is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
