The 2025 Caribbean Series will continue on Monday when Venezuela takes on Puerto Rico in Mexicali, Mexico. Puerto Rico’s team is 1-1 in the tournament while the Venezuelan team is still in search of its first win.

The Venezuelan side was off on Sunday, but the day before lost 2-1 to the Mexican team, blowing a 1-0 lead after four innings. Cardenales de Lara has never won this tournament, but the team did advance to the championship in 2020, losing 9-3 to Toros del Este.

The team is managed by Henry Blanco, who previously served as a coach for the Washington Nationals.

Puerto Rico’s Indios de Mayaguez won the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente to earn a spot in this tournament. On Sunday, the team defeated the Japanese team 3-2 despite being out-hit 10-4 in the contest.

The team is managed by Wil Codero, a former MLB utility player who spent time on seven different MLB teams, last playing for the Nationals in 2005. Cordero spent the beginning of his career as well as a stretch from 2002-2003 in Montreal playing for the Expos, the team that became the Nationals.
