Justin Fields is set to begin another new chapter in his NFL career with the New York Jets. After looking good early in the season last year as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Fields ended up back on the bench when Russell Wilson returned from injury.
Heading into free agency, there was no telling where he’d end up. However, the Jets prioritized him and ended up signing him to a two-year, $40 million contract.
Now, he is being given a chance that he can be a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL and he’s still young enough to be a long-term option for New York if things work out.
Entering the 2025 season, Fields has big goals for himself and the team. He spoke out about those with training camp getting underway.

As shared in a video from the Jets’ official account on X, Fields revealed a massive number one goal for the team.
“First, win a lot of games, make the playoffs,” Fields said. “I think that’s number one on my list for this team. And winning the division as well.”
Every player wants to win a lot of games, get into the playoffs, and win their division. For New York, that would be a huge jump from where they have been over the last couple of years.
With Aaron Rodgers leading the way, the Jets never looked to be a contender. They were expected to be a Super Bowl contender in each of the two years that Rodgers was under center, but he tore his Achilles in 2023 and the team was never able to come together in 2024.
Bringing Fields in will give them a different look offensively and they’re getting a player who is hungry to prove what he’s capable of being in the NFL.

During the 2024 NFL season with the Steelers, Fields played in 10 games. He made six starts in those 10 appearances, completing 65.8 percent of his pass attempts for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and one interception, while also running for 289 yards and five more scores.
At just 26 years old, Fields is being given a huge opportunity. If he’s able to rise to the occasion, New York could choose to build around him moving forward.
Hopefully, he is able to live up to his own expectations and lead the Jets back to winning. If he’s able to do that, his career will look much different and he will be talked about in a much different way than he has been thus far.
