A beloved donut shop owned by Mexican-American actor Danny Trejo is shutting down its Hollywood location and already preparing for a comeback.
Trejo’s Donuts announced Saturday that its Hollywood shop near Highland Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard will close on Oct. 29 as the store prepares to reopen at a new spot.
“This is definitely not a final goodbye—we’re so excited to welcome you all to our next spot,” Trejo’s Donuts said in a post on Instagram.
The business said that the primary reason for the move is lease expiration. The store’s new location has not been revealed yet.
“As our lease comes to an end, it is time to close this chapter at our one and only Hollywood location. Hollywood, it’s been so sweet! Come share one last coffee and donut with us before we close our doors on Thursday, October 29, 2026,” Trejo’s announcement read.
Customers poured in their love after the announcement and called the shop’s donuts the best in all of LA.
Designer Janette Ewen thanked the store and commented, “I’ll miss this location so much. Thank you for feeding me for years.”
“Dang, that was such a great spot and such great donuts and coffee. Being just a walk away from Calabama helped make Hollywood mornings delicious. Can’t wait for the new location,” another Instagram user commented.
Trejo’s Donuts had served at the Hollywood location since its launch in 2017. The shop had taken over the former Donut Time site, which was previously made famous as a filming location for the indie movie Tangerine.
