A male staff member at Murrumba State Secondary College has been removed from his role after being charged with grooming a student at the school.
Police said the charges were laid following investigations into the indecent treatment of a child in the Moreton Bay region, just north of Brisbane.
It is alleged the 33-year-old Mango Hill man groomed a male teenager between 2020 and 2025 while employed at the school.
The man is due to face Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on 17 June.
A letter from the principal to parents said the school was working with police, and there was no current threat to students.
“We have recently learned of an allegation of grooming charges against a Murrumba State Secondary College staff member,” the letter said.
“We take such allegations very seriously, and this staff member was immediately removed from duty.
“I understand this letter may raise concerns for parents and support services are available … I am happy to meet with any parent who would like to discuss their concerns.”
