As police investigate the discovery of explosives in a Dural caravan, the Jewish community is reporting yet another graffiti attack – this time at a Jewish school.
The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies reported that the Mount Sinai College at Maroubra was hit by vandals overnight with antisemitic slurs painted on a wall.
A home nearby was also hit with similar offensive graffiti. Police were made aware of the vandalism at 6.45 on Thursday morning and police are currently responding.
These buildings are near the Only About Children childcare centre, which last week was the target of a firebombing. While the childcare centre has no specific link to the Jewish community, an anti-Jewish slur was painted on a wall inside.
The building was unoccupied at the time and no arrests have been made.
“It is grotesque and sickening that school children are going to have walk past this repellent hate speech on their way into school this morning,” NSW Jewish Board of Deputies president David Ossip said.
“Whether it’s a daycare centre or a school, these depraved individuals will leave no target untouched in their determination to intimidate and menace the Jewish community. These hate-filled individuals are determined to destroy the peaceful and harmonious way of life that Australians have treasured for so long.”
