A storm advice remains in place for the Perth metropolitan area and parts of the South West this morning after the city copped a drenching overnight.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services this morning said the main threat of the wild weather had passed, but that authorities were still monitoring the conditions.

“At 1.05am on 23 July 2024 the Bureau of Meteorology advised a moist air mass and a trough ahead of a cold front generated heavy rainfall in showers and thunderstorms during Monday night and early Tuesday,” a DFES alert read.

“Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in WA.

“The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.”

More than 17 millimetres of rain fell in Perth overnight while Jandakot copped 41 millimetres to 7am this morning, and Bickley 34 millimetres.

Some areas in the South West received more than double that.
