The Kansas City Chiefs will enter the 2024 NFL season with a massive target on their backs following them going back-to-back with Super Bowl titles. No team has ever won three championships in a row during the Super Bowl era, but Kansas City will certainly try.

Every other team around the league will be looking to knock off the Chiefs, desperately wanting to be the team to make it happen. Within the AFC West, bad blood runs hot with a dislike for Kansas City.
The Las Vegas Raiders will be looking to make their mark this season following an 8-9 finish in 2023. Las Vegas would love nothing more than to knock off the Chiefs, and they are preparing this offseason for them in a unique way.
The Raiders brought a Kermit the Frog doll to training camp, dressed up like Mahomes. It had the No. 15 Chiefs jersey and had a similar hairstyle to the three-time MVP.
The premise: a running joke about how similar Mahomes sounds to the beloved Muppets character. It’s almost uncanny — and Mahomes himself has embraced the joke. But with this move, it seems that the Raiders are pulling out all the stops.
Las Vegas has chosen to poke the bear that is Mahomes and the Chiefs. This hasn’t proven wise over time for teams, and the Chiefs didn’t need anymore bulletin-board material heading into this potentially historic season.
The Raiders are especially taking a risk because Mahomes has dominated them throughout the course of his career. He owns a career record of 10-2 in 12 games against the Raiders. Beating the Raiders has almost become a yearly tradition for Mahomes and he will likely use this as motivation for this coming season.
In the past, Las Vegas has been subject to some of the more memorable moments from the Chiefs in years past and maybe again this season after this stunt. This includes the Chiefs spinning themselves in the huddle against the Raiders before a trick play a few seasons ago.
Las Vegas and Kansas City are set to square off for the first time this year in Week 8 at Allegiant Stadium. They then play each other at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 13.
If the Raiders want to turn up the heat, the puppet of Mahomes could be in attendance during the matchups. Not that this rivalry needed any more hype but we could see some real fireworks when these two teams face off this season.
