After five years as news presenter and entertainment reporter, Brooke Boney has signed off from Nine’s Today show.
Part of the network’s team covering the Paris Olympics – where she chatted with Snoop Dog, getting the scoop that he was coming to the Brisbane Olympics in 2032 – Boney was farewelled this morning with a package of her appearances on the show over the years, singing and dancing, riding a mechanical bull and even skydiving.

Clips of her interviews with Angelina Jolie, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Chris Hemsworth, Katy Perry and Steve Martin were also shown.
“I’m feeling really overwhelmed,” Boney said on the live show, with her mother Leonie sitting beside her on the couch.
“I’ve done things that I never dreamed possible,” she said. “My good fortune has been hard won by those who came before me,” she said, adding “It’s not just good luck, it’s hard work too.”
She thanked the audience for accepting her. “I know I don’t fit the mould,” she said through tears.
A natural talent on TV, the Gamilaroi woman is also a writer and an advocate for Indigenous issues. She is heading to the UK where she will study a masters in public policy at Oxford University.
In doing so, Boney said she was fulfilling “a lifelong dream”.
When announcing the news in March, she said, “I thought if I don’t do this now, then I’m probably never going to. I am at that age where if I leave now and go and study and come back, I’ll still only be 38,” she said.
“That still leaves plenty of time to sort of carve out the next part of what my career is.”
