The theft left Shoe Fashions $7000 in debt and Shorrock unsure of what to do with the remaining 53 left shoes.

She told 4BC she floated the idea of donating them to an ambidextrous society, a school to use for artwork, as funky doorstops or even as an unconventional way to store succulent plants.

In a Facebook post, Shoe Fashions wrote that they were a small, local family-run business who “pour their hearts and soul” into the business.

“To the person who took off with a rather very UNBALANCED haul, were you aware you were grabbing solos?” they wrote in the social media post.

The post signed off with “your slightly lopsided friends at Shoe Fashions Kenmore”.

Anyone who recognised the man or who had relevant information was urged to contact police.
