It’s okay to just get a snack.
That’s the message on TikTok after multiple beauty influencers got their hands on E.L.F. Cosmetics’s new pickle-flavored Glow Reviver Melting Lip Balms…. and promptly tried to eat them.
The line released this week with three shades of super-shiny pickle gloss, along with a cucumber-shaped sponge for blending. The jar-ring range is under $10, but only available for a limited time.
Spear-heading the collection is The Real Dill, a super-sheer green that looks, at first, like gherkin juice.
There’s also E.L.F. von Dill, a lighter green gloss with a hint of shimmer and a tiny bit of German cornichon flavor.
Meanwhile, Spicy Lil Dil is a true red gloss inspired by pickled jalapenos.
At $9, the shades are affordable, long-lasting, and ultra buttery on the lips.
But they’re also… apparently… tasty (?!), at least according to beauty influencers who are eating the lip gloss on camera in the name of investigative journalism.
“It’s like cucumber pickle,” said beauty TikTokker Chevon Shade after squeezing a dab of the E.L.F. von Dill gloss directly into her mouth. She called the shade “very cute, very unique.”
“It’s salty!” said another vlogger, Blue Suarez as he tasted the balms for the first time. “I’m not gonna lie, yes, it’s a little funky, but I kind of am loving it. I like pickles.”
“It tastes like salt,” said influencer Annisha Tanksley, who licked the gloss with a friend on camera. “I didn’t say it tastes good, but it does taste like a pickle. Just not the pickles that we eat!”
Those wanting an actual real dill might head to The Pickle Guys, a certified kosher emporium in the Lower East Side that carries on the beloved immigrant tradition of pickled cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and more, all in the same type of giant wooden barrels that have cured and preserved veggies worldwide for centuries.
But unfortunately, a good ol’ kosher dill doesn’t come with Sephora points.
