A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a pedestrian was allegedly fatally struck by a car in Brisbane’s north-east overnight.
Police said the 38-year-old man was hit by a black Ford Focus on Sinbad Street, near Allpass Parade, in Shorncliffe about 8.35pm on Friday.
The Sandgate man suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
“It will be further alleged the vehicle continued across the road and drove through a fence before coming to a stop nearby,” police said.
“The driver allegedly exited the vehicle and requested nearby residents to call triple zero. The driver then spoke to police upon their arrival.”
On Saturday morning, police said they had charged the 17-year-old with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.
He was scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Children’s Court on Saturday.
Police urged any witnesses or anyone with vision to come forward as investigations into the crash continue.
