The peak body for civil contractors in Queensland wants Premier Steven Miles to audit all state-funded projects to ensure taxpayer funds do not support union wrong-doing.

Miles on Tuesday said he would not meet with CFMEU officials, or allow Labor to accept donations from the union, while the organisation is under a “cloud”.

He also asked Queensland Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski to confirm there are no allegations or unresolved complaints concerning CFMEU activities in Queensland.

In a statement, Civil Contractors Federation Queensland said the CFMEU had been emboldened by union-friendly policies, the support of a Labor government, and fears of retribution against anyone speaking out.

“The Queensland Premier needs to assure Queenslanders that Queensland public infrastructure is being delivered free from criminal behaviour and corruption,” the federation said.

The comments came after reports about CFMEU activities interstate, and as the union continues to picket Cross River Rail sites in Brisbane.
