Two civilians were killed and 22 others wounded in a strike on the southern town of As-Saksakiyah, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said. The injured included three children and a woman.
In a separate incident, the Lebanese Army said three soldiers, including a brigadier-general, a captain and a private, were killed in what it described as an “aggressive and barbaric” strike carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The Israeli military acknowledged hitting a vehicle carrying Lebanese military personnel and said it had opened an investigation into the incident. The IDF said the vehicle had been moving “suspiciously” towards its forces and that gunfire had been reported in the area.
The attacks came amid heightened regional tensions, as the conflict entered its 100th day since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Tehran on February 28.
Israel is not in direct conflict with the Lebanese government, which remains involved in efforts to secure a ceasefire and ease tensions along the border.
