A Gosnells man will face court later this year after allegedly distributing thousands of obscene leaflets targeting Perth’s LGBTQ community.
Details of the 47-year-old’s arrest emerged on Sunday, with the man accused of distributing the leaflets over an almost two-year period from July 2024 to March 2026.
A WA Police spokeswoman said about 40 reports were made to police in relation to the leaflets over that period, leading to an investigation by the state security investigation group and detectives that culminated in the man’s arrest.
“It will be alleged the distributed leaflets contained indecent commentary and images of adult men within the LGBTQI+ community,” the spokeswoman said.
“Some of the leaflets also contained alleged obscene images.”
The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed at the man’s Gosnells home on Wednesday, April 29, where police seized electronic devices allegedly belonging to the man.
He has been charged with five counts of leave in or upon any place an indecent or obscene article. He’s next due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on July 15, while detectives have called on anyone with information relating to their ongoing investigation to contact Crime Stoppers.
