Donald Trump ally Marc Andreessen is reportedly in talks to buy TikTok ahead of the looming ban deadline.

Andreessen, who founded U.S. venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, is part of a group of American investors, led by Oracle, aiming to carve out the social media app from its Chinese parent company ByteDance, the Financial Times reports.

Trump extended the deadline for ByteDance to sell TikTok to a U.S.-controlled entity or face a nationwide ban, to April 5, when he took office in January.

Now, with that deadline now fast approaching, the Oracle-led bid is the frontrunner to buy the app, which is used by 170 million Americans.

This is a breaking news story, more to follow.
